Country Music Book
Country Music through My Lens by TR Robinson
This non-fiction, coffee table photography book “Country Music through My Lens” by TR Robinson is a completed 216-page collection of photography of Country Music Stars with a memoir style story. TR was on stage and backstage photographing the country music performers for thirty years. He had one of the most spectacular up close views of so many great country music entertainers and was able to meet some of them. TR would see and do things a little different from most photographers and try to capture them with his lens. This led to his photographs appearing in Country Weekly and Country Music Magazine for years.
TR had backstage access to photograph the performers of Jamboree in the Hills, also known as the Super Bowl of Country Music. The Jamboree was a four-day outdoor country music festival attended by one hundred and fifty thousand fans annually during its forty-one year run with performances by the top names in country music. This was one huge party that he attended annually with a group of friends while also treating it as his photography sabbatical. He had my own style of capturing the stars. This book details TR growing up around Country Music and meeting the legendary Roger Miller who gave him great advice to get things started. It also tells of his involvement as a Country Music Manager who had a performer on the doorstep to signing with MCA in 1992. He did not sign with MCA, so TR began pursuing his own dream. Throughout the sometimes crazy, surreal and challenging next thirty years, he was able to become one of the best country concert photographers. This book is a fantastic collection of his Country Music star photos of which he own sole rights. In the book, he explains how his work was not great in the early days as he was learning his craft. Eventually, TR got good at it and the stars recognized him while taking time to pose for his lens.
TR Robinson is a professional freelance photographer who is also a graphic designer and art director. During his annual sabbatical, he was able to capture up close and behind the scene photos and stories of many Country Music legends such as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Alabama, and the newer stars like Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert, Lady A and many more. This book will appeal to all Country Music fans because of the extensive collection of photographs that spans so many years. It will also appeal to photographers and students of photography as there are explanations about the photos. There is not any book quite like this with such a large collection of up close photographs of the stars of Country Music. It is the perfect coffee table conversation book for all country music fans.
TR has already begun working on a follow up book that will involve catching up with the older stars and picking up where he left off by photographing the newer performers. He just recently photographed Brad Paisley at the Pro Football Hall of Fame concert in August 2021 and will be photographing more artist and concerts over the next few years. Nobody captures the moment with a camera as he does!
